Once a business day is over, end your day in the Retail POS (S-Series) app by running a Register Shift Report to view the activity that occurred during the shift, closing the register shift to prevent additional transactions from being performed, and clocking out to record a time clock punch.

Run a Register Shift Report
This printable report tracks activity that occurs on a specific register during a register shift, including details such as sale and return totals for the shift. Managers can view the report for all staff activity or filter it by employee, but cashiers can only see their own report. Run this report before or after closing the register shift as needed.
Attention multi-register users:
Sales and returns appear on the shift report of the register where they are closed. To avoid having to add multiple shift reports together later, we recommend closing transactions from a single register.
Review the activity that has taken place on that register during the register shift.
The Register Shift Report, also known as an X or Z report, tracks sales, returns, pay ins, payouts, safe drops, voids, deleted items, items from discarded transactions, and saved sales as well as the opening and expected cash drawer amounts and, if applicable, overages/shortages.
For a breakdown of each part of the report, visit our X and Z Reports article.

A Register Manager must close the register shift to end each business day in the Retail POS (S-Series) app. After a register shift is closed, cashiers will not be able to run more transactions until the next shift is opened.
Count the amount of cash in the drawer for a register.
Enter the closing cash amount, then tap 'Close Shift'.
The closing drawer amount cannot be changed after closing the register shift.
If using integrated credit card payments, there is no need to also close a credit card batch. The batch will automatically close just after midnight by default.
If using the Retail POS (S-Series) app for Android, tap ‘Yes’ to confirm the closing amount.

(Optional) Tap 'Print Z Report' to print a Register Shift Report to a connected receipt printer.
Z reports recap the entire register shift and tell you if the drawer total was over or under the expected amount. Visit the X and Z Reports article to learn how to reprint a previous shift’s Z report.
If using the time clock feature, employees must clock out with their unique register code to record an end of day clock punch before leaving work. All staff, cashiers and managers alike, clock out the same way.
Time clock use requires an active internet connection at the register and more than 1 employee set up in BackOffice. Without internet, clock punches will not be recorded or synced to the BackOffice Time Clock report.
From the sign-in screen, enter a register code, and tap 'Clock Out' (iOS) or ‘Out’ (Android).
Don’t know your register code? Find it on the BackOffice Staff List. Learn how to access the Staff List here.
