Using the First Data FD130 / FD150 Terminal

From sales to refunds, learn to use some basic functions of the FD130 and FD150 credit card terminals.

IMPORTANT: These ShopKeep Payments by Lightspeed devices are external devices and do not integrate with the Lightspeed Retail POS (S) app. These devices are only available to ShopKeep Payments by Lightspeed merchants. For device setup please see our support article HERE.

Run a Sale

Charge a customer’s card using the EMV chip card reader, magnetic stripe reader, or built-in support for contactless payments (e.g. Apple Pay).

  1. Tap 'Sale' on the screen.
  2. Enter the sale amount and press the green [↵] button to confirm.

    Use the yellow [⟵] button to backspace any mistakes before confirming the total.

  3. (Optional) If prompted, enter a tip and press the green [↵] button to confirm.

    For no tip, press the red [X] button to skip.

  4. Insert an EMV chip card, swipe a magnetic stripe card, or hold an NFC card or device near the terminal or a connected PIN pad.

  5. Wait for the business copy of the sales receipt to automatically print.
  6. Tap 'Yes' to print a customer receipt or 'No' for no receipt.
  7. (Optional) If using the Lightspeed Retail POS (S) app, tender a sale to 'External Credit' to record the transaction at the register.
    • This ensures a record of the sale will sync to BackOffice if there’s an active internet connection on the register.

Perform a Void

Void a sale to cancel it before it shows up on a customer’s credit statement. If the sale is from a previously closed batch, perform a refund instead.

  1. Tap 'Other' on the screen.
  2. Select 'Void'.
  3. Enter the 'SEQ #' from the original sales receipt.

  4. Tap 'OK' to confirm the void.
  5. Wait for the business copy of the void receipt to automatically print.
  6. Tap 'Yes' to print a customer receipt or 'No' for no receipt.
  7. (Optional) If using the Lightspeed Retail POS (S) app, tender a return to 'External Credit' to record the transaction at the register.
    • This ensures a return transaction representing the void will sync to BackOffice if there’s an active internet connection on the register.

Process a Refund

Perform a refund to reverse a sale from a closed batch. If refunding a sale from the current open batch, process a void instead.

  1. Tap 'Other' on the screen.
  2. Select 'Refund'.
  3. Enter the refund amount and press the green [↵] button to confirm.

    Use the yellow [⟵] button to backspace any mistakes before confirming the total.

  4. Insert an EMV chip card, swipe a magnetic stripe card, or hold an NFC card or device near the terminal or a connected PIN pad.

  5. If prompted, press the green button to dismiss the 'Enter customer code' screen.
  6. Wait for the business copy of the refund receipt to automatically print.
  7. Tap 'Yes' to print a customer receipt or 'No' for no receipt.
  8. (Optional) If using the Lightspeed Retail POS (S) app, tender a return to 'External Credit' to record the transaction at the register.
    • This ensures a return transaction representing the refund will sync to BackOffice if there’s an active internet connection on the register.

Settle a Batch

Most accounts are configured to batch out automatically, but can also be closed manually if desired.

For accounts that batch out automatically, contact your merchant services provider to change the batch time.

  1. Tap 'Other' on the screen.
  2. Select 'Close Batch'.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to enter tips, if necessary.
  4. Wait for 'Batch close complete' to appear on screen, indicating the batch is closed.

    The terminal will also automatically print a report summarizing the transactions in the batch.
