If you purchased a stand for the iCMP, visit our article here for help setting it up.
Charge the iCMP
The iCMP operates on battery power and needs to be charged to function. Before using the reader for the first time, it must be charged for a minimum of 3 hours (or 6 hours for a full charge).
Plug the micro USB cable or dedicated wall charger into the iCMP's charging port.
Plug the charger into a power outlet.
If using the dedicated wall charger, plug the charger directly into a power outlet.
If using the USB cable and charging brick, first plug the cable into the provided charging brick, then plug the charging brick into a power outlet. DO NOT use an iPad charger with the iCMP.
If setting up the iCMP for the first time, allow it to charge for at least 3 hours.
It takes the device about 6 hours to reach 100% charge.
Follow the steps below to pair the iCMP with the iPad.
Pair with the iPad
After charging the iCMP, pair it with the iPad to start using it with Lightspeed Retail. If the iCMP is already paired with another device, follow the instructions here first to unpair it before proceeding.
On the iPad, open the Settings app and tap 'Bluetooth'.
Toggle Bluetooth on.
Press the power button on the side of the iCMP to turn it on.
Wait about 30 seconds for 'BT Pairing Required' to appear on the iCMP screen, then press 'F1'.
Wait for the iCMP's status on the iPad to change to 'Connected'.
The card reader will appear as ‘iCMP’ or ‘Cordless Phone’ under ‘My Devices’.
Once connected, the iCMP’s screen will display the ShopKeep logo, indicating the iCMP is ready to process credit cards in the Retail POS (S-Series) app.
The iCMP supports a few different types of credit payments. Follow the steps below to learn the basics of how to accept EMV chip cards, swiped credit cards, and Apple Pay.
