Important First Steps

Before you update iOS, make sure you read through these important steps.

iOS updates can take a long time. It’s best to update at end of the day or a few hours prior to opening.

Lightspeed Retail POS Tips

  • Close your shift if it is still open.
  • Do not delete the Retail POS (S-Series) app.

    • Back up your iPad using iCloud or iTunes.
    • If the iPad doesn’t have enough space, either clear some room or update via iTunes.
    • How to Update iOS

      There are two different ways to update iOS: wirelessly or on a computer through iTunes. Both methods work equally well, so choose the method that is most convenient for you.

      Updating Wirelessly

      1. Connect your iPad to power.
      2. Open the 'Settings' app.
      3. Check that you're connected to your WiFi network.
      4. Select 'General', then 'Software Update'.
      5. Tap 'Download and Install'.

      6. Follow the prompts on your screen to complete installation.

        Not enough space on the iPad to complete the update? Either clear some room or update via iTunes.

      Updating Via iTunes

      1. If necessary, update iTunes to the latest version.

      2. Connect the iPad to your computer with a USB cable.
      3. Click the iPad icon on the menu bar.
      4. Click 'Update'. Follow the prompts on screen to complete installation.
