This version is compatible with iOS 10 and includes enhancements to the returns process plus in-app troubleshooting for common printer issues.

Let’s start with that first one. If you want to use ShopKeep on iOS 10, you must download version 2.9.0. So if you’re ready to download right away, simply click here and remember our best practices for updating your app (and after that, for updating your iOS)!

Of course those other features are pretty helpful too, so we’ll spend the rest of this post telling you a little bit about them.

Enhancements to the returns process

Returns are a common part of running most businesses, particularly retail, so in this release we have started to re-examine the returns process in ShopKeep. As part of our initial work (more to come!), we’ve made a few enhancements that we think will help you perform returns faster and more efficiently.

To begin with, we have combined the Return and Reprint Receipt options into one History/Returns screen. This new screen now puts transaction and return details front and center in the middle of the screen, with receipt details over on the left side. You can see all transactions from the current shift, search all transaction history via receipt number, easily reprint any past receipt using the button at the bottom of the page, and of course begin a return!

2.9.0 Returns Screen

Speaking of which, we’ve added a helpful reminder to the top of the returns screen telling you to swipe left on line items to remove them from a return. We’re excited to share future updates with you going forward and would love to continue hearing your feedback on any changes. And if you’d like to read more about how to perform a return, please enjoy our article and video on the subject.

In-app printer troubleshooting

In addition to looking at how we could improve the returns process, this release we decided to see if we could come up with a creative solution to helping customers fix common issues with their printers. We noticed that many of those common issues happened again and again and actually had rather simple fixes that customers could perform on their own much faster than by calling us or even checking our Support Site. That’s why we’re excited to tell you about the new in-app printer troubleshooting feature!

Now you and your cashiers can diagnose and solve the most common printer issues right from within your register. Solutions are available for both Ethernet and Bluetooth printers and each one has clear images and detailed instructions on how to perform the fix. To find the feature, simply tap the Troubleshoot button in Printer Setup and see below for a sample troubleshooting screen.
